The marketing team sits at the heart of the organisation, responsible for running the South Bank Marketing Group as well as managing corporate communications for South Bank Employers’ Group. We are currently looking for a Marketing Officer to support the team with the day-to-day management of our destination marketing assets, such as the popular website and our social media channels, together with our B2B membership sub-group, South Bank Marketing Group.

We are looking for an individual who is excited by South Bank and what is happening here, be that cultural events or large-scale regeneration projects. You will be an excellent communicator, have an eye for detail and skilled at managing your time.


• At least three years’ experience of working in a marketing position
• Analytical and numerate, yet imaginative and able to think outside the box
• Experience in planning and delivering social media and evaluating and reporting on social campaigns
• Website CMS experience
• Impeccable written and oral communication skills, with an ability to write creatively for a range of publications and audiences
• Absolute attention to detail
• Ability to manage a number of different projects, whilst being able to work effectively under pressure
• Experience in arranging and administrating events
• Ability to work unsupervised and on own initiative
• Interest in tourism, arts industries as well as well as regeneration
• Educated to degree level



Play a key role in liaising with members and partners, developing relationships at all levels.


Assist Head of Marketing (HoM) with the management of the website Ensure the site is up to date at all times via our content management system; uploading new offers and competitions as and when required, adding events, news, images and compiling two monthly e-newsletters. The Marketing Officer will analyse and monitor statistics on a weekly basis, raising patterns and trends with the HoM.

2. SEO

Develop link-building strategy with South Bank featured articles. Alongside HoM, carry out SEO strategy for, monitoring its success.

3. Social Media

The Marketing Officer will be responsible for managing and updating our popular social media outlets (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram) and for monitoring social media statistics on a weekly basis. He/She will also play an important role in engaging with social influencers and our followers.

4. Posters
Manage the production of bi-monthly What’s On posters, for display on poster structures throughout the area. The Marketing Officer will need to work to a schedule to collate content direct from members, edit it, run the proofing process, liaise with our design agency and printers, and work with distributors to ensure posters are put up in a timely fashion.

5. Publications and Distribution
Along with HoM, manage the production and distribution of our literature such as the Summer Guide, maps and press collateral. Tasks include assisting with the development of creative concepts, collating content and images, drafting copy and helping with print and distribution arrangements. Devise distribution strategy of print, including liaising with agencies, maintaining budgets and ensuring all stakeholders receive delivery.

6. Newsletters

Have a solid understanding of newsletter platforms, such as Pure 360. Manage and send Star Card newsletter (loyalty programme with exclusive offers for residents and workers in the South Bank area) every 4 weeks. Analyse performance of newsletter using inbuilt analytics system and suggest potential improvements to template to help improve key KPIs.

7. Management

In collaboration with HoM, oversee running of South Bank London social media accounts. Manage third parties (such as Twitter editor) ensuring all platforms are meeting KPI’s and individual strategies.

Manage contributors for Assist HoM in setting editorial titles every 6 months, and subsequently liaising with contributors in a timely fashion. Edit and upload editorial to South Bank London website where required. Provide performance analysis to assist in improving future editorial.

8. South Bank Venues

Update SBV microsite with news, offers and editorial in accordance with the yearly action plan. Support SBV updates with monthly e-news via Pure 360 platform. Respond to SBV enquiries in accordance with the team rota.

9. Tourism Projects
Provide support on tourism projects as required, for example, our InfoBike service, an award-winning innovative mobile tourist information initiative.

10. Meeting Administration
Help to set up the regular meetings of the South Bank Marketing Group. Responsible for taking and producing meeting minutes. Keep the Members’ Directories and contact lists up to date. Circulate information and invites to members. Assist with the planning of networking events, such as collating RSVP lists and making badges.

11. Ad-hoc Projects
Support any additional projects and campaigns that arise as an outcome of South Bank Marketing Group meetings.

General Duties

1. Picture Library
Manage the picture library, ensuring it is up to date and clearly organised and that copyright agreements with photographers are adhered to.

2. Distribution/Storage
Ensure all marketing publications are stored and distributed as required.

3. Administration
This post is self-servicing and requires that the Marketing Officer is responsible for all their own administrative duties and will also participate in a range of duties on behalf of the team and organisation.

4. Enquiries
Respond to enquiries received via our website and by telephone, log and forward to relevant members/stakeholders.

5. Other
Undertake any other duties as may reasonably be required as a member of South Bank Employers’ Group, comply with Employers’ Equal Opportunities and Health and Safety policies always, and, on occasion, work outside of the normal working week, including evenings and weekends.


This position is offered subject to successful completion of a six-month probation period. This is a full-time post at £25,000 plus 6% pension contribution. Working hours are Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm with some evening work required to attend events (reasonable time in lieu will be given at discretion of employer). Holiday allowance is 25 days per annum on a pro rata basis.
