South Bank Organisations Join Forces to Respond to the Government's Proposed Business Rates Increase

South Bank Employers' Group, South Bank BID and South Bank Partnership joined 20 + additional business organisations in London, in a joint submission responding to the Government’s consultation on the 2017 Revaluation and transitional relief.
All three bodies signed the joint submission, which had support from The Mayor, London Councils, Lambeth Council, Westminster City Council, ten major business associations, including the Federation of Small Businesses, and 29 BIDs representing over 16,000 businesses of all sizes throughout London.

Mayor of London Sadiq Khan Officially Launches 24h Jubilee Line Service today
This morning, Mayor of London Sadiq Khan officially opened the 24-hour Jubilee Line at Waterloo station amidst much excitement. The service will start tonight, providing links to cultural venues along South Bank and further on to The O2 and Wembley Stadium, as it runs from Stanmore to Stratford.
The Mayor made the announcement on the Jubilee line platform at Waterloo Station, alongside several high-profile business and cultural leaders from South Bank, including Alan Bishop, CEO of the Southbank Centre, Richard Shaw, Director of Marketing, Communications and Audiences at the BFI, Alex Bayley, Director of Audiences and Marketing at the National Theatre and Kate Varah, Executive Director at The Old Vic.
The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, said: "There was a real buzz from when we launched the first Night Tube services in August, and I am delighted that the Jubilee line services are now up and running. Hundreds of thousands of Londoners have already benefited, and it's great news that so many more will now be able to enjoy our world-class cultural venues on the South Bank."
The Jubilee Line is the third London Underground service to go 24-7, following quickly in the footsteps of the Victoria and Central lines. The new extended service will operate across the entire line from today, running every ten minutes.
Alan Bishop, Southbank Centre CEO, said: “We are so pleased to welcome the introduction of the Night Tube to the Jubilee line, which will enable Londoners from all corners of the city to enjoy the cultural offerings of Southbank Centre and our neighbours. Safer and easier travel for London's residents and visitors will allow more people to experience the amazing variety of art, theatre and performance on offer here and see the South Bank Quarter go from strength to strength.”
Nic Durston, Chief Executive of South Bank BID and South Bank Employers' Group said: "The opening of the Jubilee line extension was a galvanising force in the transformation and regeneration of South Bank, and helped to enhance its position as London's cultural heart. The Night Tube will bring further opportunities for Londoners and visitors to enjoy this unique neighbourhood."
The Night Tube is already cutting journeys by an average of 20 minutes, with some cut by more than an hour, and will boost the capital's economy by £77m a year.
London is a 24-hour city, and thanks to the huge investment to modernise the Underground, is in the process of rolling out more 24-hour tube lines to match – no mean feat, as our underground railways are the oldest in the world, with one section dating back to 1863.

As a team‐player, you will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be flexible, approachable and keen to go the extra mile for both internal and external stakeholders. You will have excellent project coordination/management skills, strong administration and IT skills, including meeting administration, experience of coordination, stakeholder engagement, managing consultants and ideally managing suppliers and supporting procurement processes. You will thrive in a busy and fast paced environment and have the ability to work with people of varied seniority levels. You will need to be able to think quickly on your feet and work well within a team and by yourself.
A commitment to, or an interest in, the work of the South Bank Employers’ Group, or the local area, would also be an advantage. Experience of construction or public realm issues is also beneficial.
