Living Wage South Bank

25th April 2017 | Article By Lee Baker

Living Wage South Bank is a business engagement and research project, undertaken by South Bank BID, the Living Wage Foundation and Citizens UK. Funded by South Bank BID and the Walcot Foundation, the research has involved local employers, consumers and visitors to South Bank, and Lambeth residents.

A final report on the potential benefits of South Bank becoming a Living Wage district was due to be launched in April 2017, hosted by Rambert, the 3,000th Living Wage-accredited employer, with Cllr Lib Peck, Leader of Lambeth Council.

The objective was to identify the value of the London Living Wage to consumers and residents and to support businesses to navigate the accreditation process. Following months of business focus groups, qualitative and quantitative surveys, as well as face-to-face interviews, we shared insights from the research, which indicated that gaining Living Wage accreditation attracts customers, if there is effective marketing.
