Lower Marsh Regeneration

The historic market street of Lower Marsh behind Waterloo station has been transformed into a more accessible, inviting space with help from South Bank Employers’ Group.

We appointed designed Atkins for the £2.5m project which introduced high-quality surfaces, created new public spaces and removed street clutter in line with the brief to make it easier to walk, cycle and linger. The changes also made the walk to the street from Waterloo more welcoming, with a junction better for pedestrians at Baylis Road and Lower Marsh, and a new public space outside the nearby Bar Cubana.

The project to rejuvenate Lower Marsh was paid for by contributions from developers including Park Plaza and run by a steering group that we took part in.
