Two extra full-time uniformed police officers are dedicated to patrolling the South Bank under a special agreement with the Metropolitan Police Service.

The Mayor of London agreed to fund an additional officer under the Met Patrol Plus scheme after funding from local businesses, including through the London Eye planning agreement, paid for another. Our security manager deploys the constables in response to security issues raised by businesses, and they undertake joint patrols.

The aim is to reinforce South Bank Patrol to tackle security issues important to the community, including theft, aggressive begging, street drinking and unlicensed street trading. The initiative came in response to a feeling that police visibility was not high enough in the neighbourhood.
