South Bank community safety officer Oladayo Bello is seconded from Lambeth Council to bring extra resources and powers to tackling offences that cause problems as the area gets crowded.

The officer – known as Dayo – is focused on dealing with unlicensed street trading, highways obstructions and compliance with licenses on issues such as outside seating and commercial waste. His work is vital to keep people safe and comfortable on days when South Bank attracts tens of thousands of people.

He seizes illegal items such as peanut and hot dog trolleys and deals with unlicensed pedi-cabs and works with both the police and South Bank Patrol to reduce the impact of breaches. He is also able to make joint prosecutions with Westminster Council.
