South Bank Emergency Planning

19th April 2017 | Article By Lee Baker

Emergency planning is undertaken collectively for South Bank, with the importance of South Bank Employers’ Group work to produce an evacuation procedure underscored by the discovery of a World War II bomb.

It was rush-hour one 2017 working day when the discovery was made, and the Queen’s Walk had to be evacuated between Westminster Bridge and the Hungerford pedestrian bridges. Police officers we fund to focus on our area attended within minutes and used the radio network we sponsor through the Business Crime Reduction Partnership to inform business of what was happening. South Bank Patrol and local security teams assisted with the movement of people and manning the cordons.

Our evacuation procedure under development would allow up to 80,000 people to be quickly and safely cleared in any emergency.
