Plans to improve the South Bank’s east-west ‘Spine Route’ with a high-quality streetscape design have been drawn up for the South Bank Employers’ Group.
We commissioned design consultants Gross Max to produce a design plan to give the east-west links of Belvedere Road and Upper Ground a world-class environment that better serves cyclists and pedestrians. This will steer private investment by employers along the national cycling route, including by Elizabeth House and the Shell Centre. The plans, including for better surfaces and to remove unnecessary steel planters, will go out to public consultation.
We are also championing an agreement to ensure that investment in the public realm is not undermined by a lack of road repairs.
