South Bank is our neighbourhood, and we are passionate about making it the very best place to live, work, visit and study in London. Everything we do is about fulfilling that promise.
Some of the ways we do this are highly visible and you will see our cleaning and graffiti removal teams out on the streets of South Bank and Waterloo seven days a week. We also work behind the scenes to improve the area for everyone, providing coordination and support to help things run as smoothly and safely as possible.

South Bank Clean Team
Our team keep the area sparkling and welcoming, seven days a week. They remove graffiti within 24 hours (four hours if it’s offensive), clear litter and leaves, and put down grit when it’s icy. They also jet wash pavements, report abandoned bikes for removal, weed and maintain landscaped borders and planting, polish street furniture and manage our poster sites. These local heroes are also on hand to assist members of the public by providing directions.
Place Management Group
Place Management Group is a unique partnership of the major organisations in South Bank and the local authority, with a long-term commitment to improving the public realm for employees, visitors and residents alike. The group decides how South Bank’s publicly-accessible areas will be managed and maintained, effectively responding to the pressures created by the high footfall that tens of millions of visitors a year brings.
Construction Co-ordination Group
South Bank Construction Co-ordination Group brings together developers, community representatives and infrastructure providers to minimise disruption. The Group works to ensure that any necessary street closures are effectively co-ordinated and to reduce traffic and congestion relating to construction work.
Keeping Jubilee Gardens beautiful
Keeping the transformed Jubilee Gardens in good condition when they never close and are visited by millions of people each year is a challenge that the South Bank Employers’ Group rises to. We commissioned the £4.5m project in 2012 to improve the gardens next to the London Eye, and now on behalf of the Jubilee Gardens Trust oversee the work to manage and maintain them. This involves clearing 37,000 bags of litter and at the busiest times in the summer providing overnight security to protect the refurbished park.
